Outgoing Parliament Speaker and acting President Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic has said that the inaugural session of parliament would be scheduled by June 8. "Parliament's inaugural session will be scheduled by June 8. My job is only to schedule it, while the oldest MP will chair the session. The session will be scheduled by then, while the exact day will be agreed on over the next several days," Djukic-Dejanovic told Beta news agency. Serbia's new parliament to meet by June 9 The first session of the new parliament must be held by June 9, while a new cabinet will be picked over the next three months or by September 8. Serbia's parliament has a total of 250 seats, which are held by 11 electoral tickets, of which five are ethnic minority tickets. A new government will need the support of at least 126 MPs to be elected. Asked whether she would, in her role of Serbia's acting president, launch talks on the prime minister designate, Djukic-Dejanovic replied that the PM designate would be chosen by Serbia's next president after the second round of elections on May 20. She said that the president had two options - to be sworn-in before parliament's previous lawmakers so that talks on a premier designate may begin, or to be sworn-in after lawmakers picked in elections on May 6 have their terms validated.
