The new government should not have more than 15 ministries, daily Vecernje novosti writes. According to the daily, Democratic Party (DS)-led coalition and Socialist Party (SPS)-Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS)-United Serbia (JS) coalition leaders agreed to this at a meeting on Wednesday. Daily: New government will have 15 ministries The daily added that a new distribution of ministries would be discussed immediately after the second round of the presidential elections which will be held on May 20. According to Vecernje novosti, the Democrats and Socialists will first talk with the U-Turn Movement and its leader Cedomir Jovanovic. United Regions of Serbia (URS) leader Mladjan Dinkic has, according to the daily, informed the DS and SPS that they should not count on URS MPs to provide a ruling majority in the new government. “We either join the government with our hands free and guarantees that our program will be implemented 100 percent or we stay in the opposition. If the government, that we are not a part of, implements our program we will support it without any problem. That does not mean a minority support because unresolved situations are out of the question,” URS official Suzana Grubjesic said. The daily explains that the Economy Ministry, Youth and Sport Ministry, Health Ministry, Culture Ministry and Telecommunications Ministry, which have so far been led by the URS, will be first to be taken by the new ruling majority parties if the URS decides not to join the government. The daily has learnt that the Socialists have already reserved all the ministries they have been running so far – the Interior Ministry, Infrastructure Ministry, Education Ministry and that they are also interested in the Labor and Social Policy Ministry, Health Ministry and Youth and Sport Ministry. Rasim Ljajic’s Social Democratic Party of Serbia (SDPS) has said that they will not give up on the Labor Ministry. “Even though our leader is going to the Serbian parliament, we have so far been running the social policy ministry in the best possible way and we will insist that the ministry goes to our party in the next mandate,” the SDPS told Vecernje novosti. The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) did not want to speculate on possible distribution of ministries since they “believe it is inappropriate to talk about it until the second round of the presidential elections”. Both DS and SPS officials have repeated that they will discuss staffing after the presidential run-off vote. The Serbian government headquarters Vecernje novosti
