Final results of first round of presidential election

The Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) announced on Thursday evening the final election results from the first round of presidential elections in Serbia. According to this, Boris Tadic, candidate of the Democratic Party (DS)-led coalition, and Tomislav Nikolic, candidate of the coalition gathered around the Serb Progressives (SNS) will run in the second round of presidential elections on May 20. Final results of first round of presidential election According to RIK, in the first round Tadic won 25.31 percent, or 989,454 votes, while Nikolic received 25.05 percent, which amounts to 979,216 votes. Ivica Dacic (SPS) came in third (14.23 percent, 556,013 votes), while Vojislav Kostunica placed fourth (7.44 percent, 290,861 votes). Other candidates followed: Zoran Stankovic (URS) 6.58%, Cedomir Jovanovic (LDP) 5.03%, Jadranka Seselj (SRS) 3.78%, Istvan Pastor (SVM) 1.62%, Zoran Dragisic (Movement of Peasants and Workers) 1.54%, Muamer Zukorlic (candidate of group of citizens) 1.39%, and Danica Grujicic (SDS) 0.78%. RIK declared as final the results for 99.93 percent of polling stations for parliamentary elections, and 99.95 percent for presidential elections, while the turnout in the first round of the presidential polls reached 57.77 percent. The announcement on Thursday comes as Nikolic and his SNS leveled serious accusations against Tadic and his party, alleging election fraud. 11 members of the commission - from the SNS, the DSS, the SRS, the Dveri Movement and the Movement of Workers and Peasants - voted against the decision to announce final results, citing numerous irregularities. Final results of first round of presidential election

According to RIK, in the first round Tadić won 25.31 percent, or 989,454 votes, while Nikolić received 25.05 percent, which amounts to 979,216 votes.

Ivica Dačić (SPS) came in third (14.23 percent, 556,013 votes), while Vojislav Koštunica placed fourth (7.44 percent, 290,861 votes).

Other candidates followed: Zoran Stanković (URS) 6.58%, Čedomir Jovanović (LDP) 5.03%, Jadranka Šešelj (SRS) 3.78%, Ištvan Pastor (SVM) 1.62%, Zoran Dragišić (Movement of Peasants and Workers) 1.54%, Muamer Zukorlić (candidate of group of citizens) 1.39%, and Danica Grujičić (SDS) 0.78%.

RIK declared as final the results for 99.93 percent of polling stations for parliamentary elections, and 99.95 percent for presidential elections, while the turnout in the first round of the presidential polls reached 57.77 percent.

The announcement on Thursday comes as Nikolić and his SNS leveled serious accusations against Tadić and his party, alleging election fraud.
