Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Kostunica said on Wednesday that he had sent a letter to SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic. In it, Kostunica told the presidential candidate that there a thorough change in Serbia's foreign policy was needed, and that the country should declare political neutrality. "Next president should opt for neutrality" This change can be accomplished only if a stop is put on the wrong and disastrous "EU has no alternative" policy which was pursued in Serbia over the past few years. This is why I sent the letter to SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic, Kostunica said. "I am ready to discuss all this with Nikolic," he added. Nikolic confirmed he received the letter, and announced talks with Kostunica about his support in the May 20 presidential run-off. He said that his and Kostunica's views are not so far apart, and that everyone should give up on a small part of their own identity for the common interest. "I hope that we will reach an agreement, but I do not want to deliver prejudice anything," Nikolic said, noting that they agree dthat Kosovo and Metohija is a constituent part of Serbia, so there will be "no need for Kostunica to abandon all his political stances".
