Democratic Party (DS) presidential candidate Boris Tadic says he still has not spoken to parties about their support in the second round of presidential vote. He added, however, that he was asking for citizens’ support. Tadic says he "won't accept blackmail, pressure" “I will not accept pressures and blackmails. I did not accept them in 2004 or in 2008. Goodbye pressure,” Tadic said in front of 1,000 supporters who welcomed him in Pancevo. The DS leader, who has already started an election campaign for the presidential run-off election on May 20, has offered the competent bodies to inspect whether his assets were larger than his income and pointed out that he did not understand why his opponents were afraid of such inspection. “They have houses and apartments and I have books, mine and my parents’. That’s my property,” Tadic said and added that he did various jobs before and that he used to sell newspapers, make toys and that he was a minister, an MP and a president. He suggested that his paychecks and assets be compared and criticized his opponent Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leader Tomislav Nikolic for “talking about honesty”. “Nikolic is telling me about honesty!? That is beyond decency,” the DS leader said but pointed out that he still respected his political opponent and the votes he won but that he had no respect for his policy which “is harming the citizens”. Tadic also stated that even bigger opponents than the SNS leader were individuals in the DS who only looked after their own personal interests. However, he said that a belief that all politicians were dishonest was not true and that there were honest people in the DS who did their job well. Tadic stressed that only his party led a policy that would bring the country closer to the EU and that the citizens had recognized this fact.
