Forest fire rages in southwestern Serbia

A forest fire has been burning for three days near the Milesevka River canyon and the village of Milosev Do in southwestern Serbia. Firefighters and local rangers have for the past three days been trying to put out the fire that broke out near the Milesevka River Canyon nature reserve. Forest fire rages in southwestern Serbia “The terrain is extremely inaccessible and the fire is spreading toward the canyon walls despite our efforts. If we do not manage to localize the fire and it spreads toward the canyon, only the rain will be able to put it out,” ranger Munir Malagic told Beta news agency. The fire has not spread across the large part of the forest but the firefighters are carrying water on their backs due to inaccessible terrain, which is significantly slowing down the operation.
