Campaigning for May 6 elections ends on Friday

Participants in the forthcoming elections in Serbia are allowed to conduct their campaigns and address their voters by Thursday at midnight.

Participants in the forthcoming elections in Serbia are allowed to conduct their campaigns and address their voters by Thursday at midnight. After that, election silence will begin and last until the polling stations close on Sunday, May 6, at 20:00 CET. Campaigning for May 6 elections ends on Friday According to the Law on Election of Members of Parliament, election silence must come into effect 48 hours before the holding of elections. During that period, election propaganda via the media, as well as campaign rallies and publishing of opinion polls are all banned. Parties, coalitions and candidates are also prohibited from displaying their symbols and other propaganda material within a 50-meter radius around the polling stations. On election day, the media may report where and when party leaders and other candidates cast their ballots, but their statements can only be broadcast after the polls close. A total of 18 election lists, submitted by parties and coalitions, will compete for seats in the Serbian parliament, while 12 candidates are standing in the presidential election. 7,026,579 Serbians are eligible to cast their ballots in 8,587 polling stations in the country and abroad.
