The U.S. Attorney's Office will request extradition or arrest Miladin Kovacevic if he is ever within reach, Broome County District Attorney Gerald Mollen says. Mollen told Tanjug that the arrest warrant was still valid and that nothing had changed. “U.S. will request Kovacevic’s extradition“ “As our state attorney's office has always pointed out, our warrant is still pending,” the district attorney said. Kovacevic has been serving a prison sentence in Sombor prison as of January 20, 2011. He was sentenced to two years and three months in prison, after an agreement with prosecution to plead guilty of inflicting severe bodily harm with possible deadly consequences on American student Bryan Steinhauer during a bar fight on May 4, 2008. The Serbian government paid USD 900,000 to Steinhauer's family in March 2009, after reaching an agreement with the U.S. State Attorney's Office to abandon the prosecution of Kovacevic and that he is tried in Serbia.
