If the Democratic Party (DS) gets a mandate it will choose a prime minister that has experience in the field of economy and finance, Bozidar Djelic says. The DS Presidency member stressed that the prime minister would come from the DS ranks and noted that “(DS) leader (Boris) Tadic has clearly said that the DS would propose a prime minster if it got the mandate”. Next PM must be “experienced economist” Djelic stated that the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) had contributed to Serbia’s EU pathway by voting for the law on seizure of property from the mafia and for the Resolution on Srebrenica, “when the Progressives run away from the hall”. “A partner who has shown commitment to the idea of European and socially responsible Serbia is a long-term partner,” the DS official pointed out. He added that “all who share our ideal of European Serbia” were acceptable partners to the DS “and that means that there cannot be a coalition with the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Serb Radical Party (SRS) and Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS)”. Commenting on Tadic’s statement that the United Regions of Serbia (URS) was not a possible partner, Djelic explained that it was hard to accept the party as a partner “because the URS is now strongly criticizing the things they have been in charge of in the government they still sit in”.
