Orthodox Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija celebrated Easter in their churches and temples on Sunday. Bishop Teodosije of the Diocese of Raska and Prizren served Easter liturgy in the Church of St. Demetrios in northern Kosovska Mitrovica. Easter celebrated in Kosovo and Metohija Teodosije read out Patriarch Irinej's Easter message. The service was attended by Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic, who today also announced that the authorities in Belgrade decided not to organize local elections in the province on May 6. Although all Serbs have been driven out of the southern, ethnic Albanian part of Kosovska Mitrovica, Tanjug reports today that some 100 believers traveled to St. Sava's church located there. The holy place was attacked and damaged during the anti-Serb riots in March 2004. Easter was also marked in Serb enclaves south of the Ibar River, with liturgies served in Serbian Orthodox temples located in that part of Kosovo.
