Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) leader Ivica Dacic said on Tuesday that only a strong and proud Serbia can move forward. The Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS)-Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS)-United Serbia (JS) coalition presidential candidate stressed this was the coalition's main message ahead of the May 6 election. “Only strong Serbia can move forward” At a campaign rally in the northern Serbian town of Sombor, Dacic spoke against the initiative launched by some parties and organizations to turn Vojvodina into a republic and said Vojvodina would never again be a state within a state. Noting that Vojvodina should have autonomy, grow stronger and develop, he said this autonomy could never be against and outside of Serbia, but only inside a strong Serbia. The SPS leader said that when it came to international relations, the country must have a firm stance and aspire to cooperation with the world and EU accession but not at the cost of national and state interests. “The Serbian people have had enough of wars, suffering and bloodshed,” he stressed, adding that "we have no other choice but to help our people in Kosovo and the Serbian state needs to clearly decide on its position regarding Kosovo."
