Ruling Democratic Party (DS) official Bozidar Djelic presented a package of measures the DS "will implement after elections, when it sets up a ruling majority". The measures, which should be implemented by the summer, aim to help some of the most vulnerable categories of population, said the member of the DS presidency and former cabinet minister. Democrats plan "five key measures for better life" Djelic told a press conference that the first measure is the realization of the decision on VAT refunds for baby products and limiting the margins on the products, and added that the second measure refers to unemployed pregnant women, for which the state will provide a monthly fee of RSD 20,000. The measures will also include three-year loans in dinars for farmers, with an interest rate of six percent, and free education for students who pass all the exams on time. The fifth measure the DS plans to implement is the one encouraging "the second chance," intended for middle-aged unemployed people, those older than 45, in order for them to find or create a job on their own. Djelic said that the funds for implementing the measures will come from savings, and partially from adopting a law which would centralize public procurements, which would secure EUR 200 million annually. "I am sorry that certain parties blocked the adoption of the law in January, but it will be adopted after the new government takes office,” he noted. Until recently deputy prime minister urged the citizens to vote for the continuity of the policy which brings results and provides Serbia with progress on the EU path, at the same time preserving the territorial integrity. Djelic pointed to numerous positive results of the current government and reiterated that in the four years of the greatest crisis the world faced in the past fifty years, the opposition Serb Radical Party - which polls as the country's most popular head of the May 6 elections - and its leader Tomislav Nikolic "had not done anything". "At this crucial moment, we must not entrust Serbia with those who have not done anything and who change their policy just to get a seat," Djelic concluded. Bozidar Djelic (FoNet, file) Tanjug
