Vojislav Kostunica says Serbia is now facing a crucial choice - whether to continue "on the path with no alternative", or to embrace political neutrality. The former Yugoslav president and Serbian prime minister spoke during a meeting of his Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) main board on Thursday, and in reference to the ruling parties' policy that declared Serbia's EU integration bid to be "without alternative". DSS leader: Serbia facing crucial choice "Serbia's fate in the time to come will be determined in the forthcoming elections and we are aware that we would face the fact that a majority of parties support the EU, but we also know that most citizens today are against Serbia's EU accession," Kostunica said. Presenting the party's pre-election program, the DSS leader said that it would draw from his book entitled "Why Serbia and not the EU" and a manifesto dubbed "Serbia's Development from 2012 to 2017". In the address to the party, which was marked by the stand that Serbia needs to be neutral in both political and military terms, Kostunica reiterated that an end should be put to the EU integration because this process was harmful to Serbia in political, economic and moral terms. According to him, this is why it is the right moment for Serbia to declare political neutrality, as well as military neutrality. He explained that political neutrality would imply that Serbia should not be a member of any inter-government alliance such as the EU, because this would open the doors to cooperation with all other countries, both in the East and in the West. Speaking about military neutrality, Kostunica said that he deeply believes that not a single drop of blood of Serbian soldiers should be spilled for NATO's interests.
