DS official hints at presidential elections this spring

Ruling Democratic Party (DS) Vojvodina Provincial Committee Chairman Dusan Elezovic said Wednesday that presidential elections could be held in the spring. He told Novi Sad-based daily Dnevnik that the presidential elections could be held at the same time as parliamentary, local and provincial elections - in late April or early May. DS official hints at presidential elections this spring “Presidential elections must be held by the end of the year anyway, so these would not be early elections,” he was quoted as saying, adding the decision would be made in the next few days. "Scheduling presidential elections for the same day as the others would not significantly change the course of the campaign or the issues," Elezovic said, pointing out it would put "the presidential race more in the campaign focus, but this would in no way distract from the main issues in the electoral race." Noting that for the DS and its partners, the main topics would be presenting the results of their work to date and the platform for the next term, he stressed he believed the party would be successful in animating citizens to go to the polls and cast a vote for the Democrats.
