Serbian police have so far detained 12 persons suspected of being involved in attacks on Croat handball fans, B92 has learned. Earlier today, Serbian Police Director Milorad Veljovic confirmed the arrests. 12 persons arrested for attacking Croat fans Three Croatian fans suffered minor injuries. 12 persons from Novi Sad and Belgrade are suspected of organizing the incident, among them those from a fan group from Novi Sad known as Firma, and a member of the right-wing organization Obraz. Veljovic said that the attack was well organized. He stressed that the investigation was underway and that police were currently working on identifying the persons suspected of taking part in the last night’s attack on the Croat fans after a European Handball Championship match between Croatia and France in Novi Sad. The police director noted that three Croatian citizens had suffered minor injuries in the incidents and added that he was in constant contact with the Croatian Embassy and his Croatian colleagues. A group of 30 to 50 hooligans attacked the Croat fans in northern Serbian towns of Novi Sad and Ruma on Tuesday evening. The police reacted immediately and arrested nine persons.
