The Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS) is asking for one deputy PM spot in the future government, and for the finance ministry portfolio. Belgrade-based daily Politika writes that the demand was submitted to the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS). Pensioner party wants finance ministry PUPS and SPS, along with United Serbia (JS), forged a coalition ahead of last elections held in 2008. Should the coalition participate in the next government, PUPS is asking for the cabinet positions "in order to keep its promises about pensions", writes the newspaper, noting this reason was "unofficial". The article adds that the only official reaction has been that "negoatiations are still ongoing, and moving in a good direction". On Monday, Parliament Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic announced that a date for parliamentary elections would be set on the last day of the legal deadline for the authorities to do so - March 11.
