EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule says he believes it was useful that President Boris Tadic and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton discussed Kosovo. Fule said he was not familiar with the content of the telephone conversation that took place on Sunday, but that the United States' involvement in finding a solution for Kosovo was "beneficial to all sides". "Content unknown, but conversation beneficial" According to a press release which the State Department delivered to a Tanjug correspondent on Sunday, in the phone call which happened at the initiative of the U.S. State Secretary, Clinton "appealed to Serbia to continue its efforts aimed at normalizing relations with Kosovo". The U.S. Secretary of State also added the United States was "ready to help both sides". Speaking in Brussels on Monday, on the sidelines of an EU ministerial meeting that had the situation in Kosovo as one of the topics on the agenda, Fule also commented on Sunday's EU accession referendum in Croatia. He referred to its outcome as "a positive message to Serbia and other countries in the Western Balkans".
