Tomislav Nikolic says he was not present at Monday's 20th anniversary of the Serb Republic in Banja Luka because he had not received the invitation on time. “I received the invitation on Monday for Monday's ceremony, so it was like I did not receive it at all,” the rresident of the Serb Progressive Party (SNS) told news press conference held in Belgrade after his meeting with heads of opposition parties from the Serb entity. SNS leader: Tadic did not deserve medal When asked whether the reason for his non-attendance at the ceremony in Banja Luka was the fact that President Boris Tadic was presented with the Medal of the RS, Nikolic responded that he already has one medal of the RS which he received in more difficult times than it is the case today. "Tadic was definitely not awarded for his own merits, as I cannot see in which way he contributed to the creation and preservation of the RS,” the SNS leader stated, adding that if the medal was presented for individual contributions there were "many people who deserve this recognition more than Tadic". Nikolic said that he respected RS President Milorad Dodik as a man who was elected by the RS people and authorized by the Constitution to head it, but added that he had no personal relations with Dodik, and urged him "not to help certain political parties in elections in Serbia". “If Dodik understands this, we will have an excellent cooperation, on the contrary this would be a proof that the relations between the RS and Serbia are narrowed down to the personal relations between their presidents,” Nikolic said. “It would not have hurt my dignity if I had attended the ceremony which presented Tadic with the Medal as I believe that this is an award to the Republic of Serbia,” Nikolic concluded.
