Serbian President Boris Tadic is among the recipients of the Medal of the Serb Republic, presented on the 20th anniversary of the Serb entity's founding. RS President Milorad Dodik signed a decree awarding the medal to several former RS presidents and a number of Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) dignitaries and citizens. Serb Republic presents Tadic with medal At a ceremony held in Banja Luka on Monday, Dodik stated that medals represent recognition to individuals who contributed to the creation, strengthening and promotion of RS. Receiving the medal, Tadic said that it represents an obligation to make cooperation on both sides of the Drina River more fruitful. "Our obligation is to make this cooperation more fruitful for the benefit of all citizens. This cooperation should connect not only the Serbian people, but rather all nations and people of good will," Tadic stressed at the award ceremony in view of the Day of RS and its patron saint day, St. Stefan. Tadic said that the recognition represents for him a personal obligation to continue developing relations between Serbia and the RS, which would result in new bridges, universities, scientific cooperation, new roads and energy facilities. Tadic said that Serbia was aware of its obligation and rights that come from the Dayton peace agreement, which envisages the possibility of special and parallel relations between the Serb entity and Serbia, and pledged support for the people of the RS "whenever solidarity should be showed". Serbia, he continued, will continue to support the territorial integrity of Bosnia-Herzegovina, as one of the guarantors of the Dayton agreement, as well as the existence of two entities and three constitutive peoples. "Just as we insist on the defense of rights of all other nations in the Western Balkans on every occasion, so we will never give up on defending legitimate interests of the Serb people wherever they may live," Tadic said in his address. The Serbian president thanked Dodik, pointing out that he feels greatly honored to have received the medal which, as he said, belongs to Serbia and its citizens. Dodik underlined that medals are RS's sign of gratitude and recognition, for everything the recipients have done to the benefit of all people in RS, Bosnia-Herzegovina (Bosnia) and the region. Dodik said that the recipient's actions speak louder than words. The ceremony was held at the Palace Of The Republic in the presence of Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, Serbian Patriarch Irinej, Interior Minister Ivica Dacic, RS Vice Presidents Emil Vlajki and Enes Suljkanovic, Prime Minister Aleksandar Dzombic, RS ministers and Crown Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic. The ceremony was also attended by member of Bosnia Presidency Nebojsa Radmanovic, Chairman of the Bosnia Council of Ministers Nikola Spiric, RS Parliament Speaker Igor Radojicic, members of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Russian and Serbian delegation, and numerous other political, cultural and public figures of the RS and Bosnia.
