Serb Republic marks 20th anniversary Serbian President Boris Tadic and Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic will be among the guests. Serbian Orthodox Patriarch Irinej will serve the holy liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic will also attend the celebrations. The Serb Republic is free and will continue to exist, as this was the vow of the soldiers who laid their lives for it, RS President Milorad Dodik said after laying wreaths at the monument to fallen RS soldiers at the Saint Pantaleon cemetery in Banja Luka. Dodik announced that he will award the Medal of the RS to Serbian President Boris Tadic, and that the same accolade will be be presented to former RS presidents Rajko Kuzmanovic, Dragan Cavic, Mirko Sarovic and Nikola Poplasen. At the same time. Russian Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina Aleksandr Botsan-Kharckenko will present the Service Medal to Dodik, awarded by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. The assembly of Serbs in Bosnia-Herzegovina passed a declaration establishing Serb Republic twenty years ago this Monday. The assembly itself had been set up one year earlier. Since 1988, the administrative, political and business center of RS has been in Banja Luka. The RS - the Serb entity in the post-war Bosnia arranged as a parliamentary republic - received 49 percent of the territory of Bosnia-Herzegovina under the 1995 Dayton Agreement. Some in the other entity - the Muslim-Croat Federation - have condemned the celebrations, saying they represented "taking over of the heavy burden of crime and genocide by the government in Banja Luka, since the whole political and military leadership, that 20 years ago declared the RS, was in the Hague". They also criticized the presence of top Serbian political and religious officials, as "a political message of its own kind not only regarding Serbia's relationship with Bosnia but also the near past in these areas".
