“It would be mistake to let SNS rule Serbia”

I believe that the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and its allies cannot lead Serbia toward modernization, says Serbia’s Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac. He has ruled out a possibility that the Democratic Party (DS) would form a coalition with the Progressives after the elections, stressing that SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic and his coalition partners “could be better described as a dish from southern Serbia than partners or a political alternative“. “It would be mistake to let SNS rule Serbia” “SNS represents a group of people whose only goal is to get to the power, each for their own reasons. When asked to comment on Nikolic's statement that he was not invited to discuss Kosovo, the defense minister said that the SNS leader was the most responsible for the situation in Kosovo during the 90s of all the present politicians. He added that Nikolic still had not renounced his original policy which “has led us to the situation we are in”. Sutanovac said that he, as a responsible man, was thinking about becoming an opposition but pointed out that he objectively did not expect this to happen, “unless DS makes cardinal mistakes and the biggest would be to allow SNS to rule Serbia”.
