Denmark's Minister of European Affairs Nicolai Wammen has said he hopes Serbia will get EU candidate status in late February. He added that EU accession is beneficial for both the candidate country and the entire EU. Denmark took over EU presidency for the next six months on January 1. Enlargement will be an important task for Denmark during its presidency, he stated, adding that EU accession was good for both the candidate countries and the entire Europe. Heads of EU member states gave Belgrade additional time back in December to continue its talks with Pristina and implement the agreements reached so far. Serbia's candidate status will be discussed again on February 28 at a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers.
