Kosovo Albanian officials are putting together documents to file a request to the authorities in Belgrade for "extradition" of Zvonko and Zarko Veselinovic. KFOR has accused the Veselinovic brothers of engineering the violence and barricades in northern Kosovo. Pristina wants Veselinovic brothers "extradited" “We are in the process of completing the documentation to prove that Zvonko and Zarko Veselinovic are citizens of Kosovo. After that we will send the file to Interpol, and the Ministry of Justice will request their extradition to Kosovo," Kosovska Mitrovica Chief Prosecutor Shyqri Syla told Balkan Insight. Syla said he did not want to set any date, but he thought the extradition request would be made in January. It is unlikely that Serbia will extradite the Veselinovic brothers, as it does not have an extradition agreement with Kosovo and the case is politically sensitive, says the website. However, Belgrade will likely be pressured to act on the issue, as the charges involve an attack on NATO soldiers, according to the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN). Kosovo's Interior Minister Bajram Rexhepi said earlier on Friday that the Pristina authorities would seek Zvonko Veselinovic’s extradition at some point, but that the chances of a positive response were slim because there was no international warrant for his arrest. According to Pristina-based Albanian language daily Kosova Sot, the Pristina prosecution suspects nine people, the Veselinovic brothers among them, of involvement in organized crime and incidents in northern Kosovo, including the murder of police officer Enver Zymberi. The Kosovska Mitrovica District Prosecution has brought two indictments against persons suspected of involvement in the incidents in northern Kosovo and organized crime, but the Kosovo institutions have not sought the arrest of the Veselinovic brothers from Interpol, writes the daily. They were arrested on December 20 at Mt. Kopaonik in Serbia, will be held in custody at least until January 22. Serbia's Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said the reasons for the arrest were not political and the Serbian police did not have the jurisdiction to investigate events in the territory of Kosovo. Zvonko Veselinovic is under investigation at the District Court in Kraljevo under suspicion that he was involved in producing and transporting weapons and explosive devices. Zarko Veselinovic is being investigated by the Belgrade special court under suspicion that he aided and abetted Srecko Topalovic, a judge of the Raska Municipal Court in abuse of office.
