Montenegrin police arrested in the night between Sunday and Monday a total of 20 persons suspected of involvement in drug trade. It was announced that the arrest operation was still ongoing in the entire country. Police said more information was to follow later, as the operation was still underway. Media from Sarajevo, Bosnia, also reported that several persons had been arrested in the Serb Republic (RS) and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) early in the morning, in the regional joint operation to fight organized drug trade. Searches are currently being conducted at a number of locations in RS and FBiH, the media said. The joint operation, code-named Trio, which started in the early morning hours, is in Bosnia-Herzegovina territory conducted under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office. The Bosnia-Herzegovina State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) is also taking part in the operation in FBiH. The RS Interior Ministry has for some time now been cooperating with police services and relevant prosecutor's offices from Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia and Albania. Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic confirmed on Monday that a crackdown against drug mafia in the region was under way, and said that more information will be released during the day. Dacic told journalists at the Counter-Terrorist Unit (PTJ) base that Serbia is providing operational logistics, that is necessary data for the operation to be conducted in an effective way, but that until now, there has been no arrest in the territory of Serbia.
