LDP party leader Cedomir Jovanovic has stated in an interview for Tanjug that Serbia needs cooperation between LDP and the Democratic Party (DS). This is because both are pro-European parties, said he. Serbia needs LDP-DS cooperation, says LDP leader According to Jovanovic, the U-Turn parties will stand the elections as a coalition, adding that there is room for other parties as well, primarily the Social Democratic Party of Serbia (SDSP) headed by Rasim Ljajic. He also mentioned some of the parties which were members of the Democratic Opposition of Serbia (DOS) coalition back in 2000. Speaking about the need for cooperation between LDP and DS, Jovanovic underlined that their cooperation should be based on relations which are different from the current ones. “Our differences are serious and I believe that both parties are due to do all in order to make their relations as harmonious as possible because Serbia should not be a prisoner to unbalanced relations of the two strongest pro-European parties and the only parties of the kind which can stand the elections independently,” Jovanovic stated. The goal of LDP is to preserve Serbia on its EU pathway, and the U-Turn declaration was formed precisely for this cause, he said, adding that the U-Turn political alliance is bound to enter election campaign as a coalition.
