Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Cedomir Jovanovic requests an urgent change of the Kosovo policy. “We urgently need a new fulcrum in the Kosovo policy, in the first step as an idea and then as a concept that would attract people by changing the country’s orientation. This is the only way to stop the free fall we have been in for the last 22 years,” he stressed. LDP leader: Serbia light years away from EU When asked whether he expected Serbia to get the EU candidate status in March, Jovanovic said: “We are a society that is a light year away from the way things are done in Europe. In the meantime our leaders, while covering up their own responsibility for the failure in the Eurointegrations, have turned themselves into an anti-European front instead of the European one. After we have decided whether we want Europe or not, we will finally have to either create it or destroy it as an option for Serbia. In the meantime, we have lost the right to expect anything from Europe”. When asked whether a pre-election coalition with the Democratic Party (DS) was possible since DS leader Boris Tadic rejected the U-Turn program, Jovanovic said that a modern Serbia could not be built on “a rotten board” and that DS’ current policy could only be described as such. “We will continue the work we started with the U-Turn. We are working on programs so we could enable the next government to realize the idea from the U-Turn through affirmation of the rule of law, strong institutions, trade economy based on private and not state initiative, new social policy, reforms of health, education and pension systems...,” he added. “The DS’ policy is a source of populist phrases that are today anesthetizing Serbia so it could be divided between Tadic and (Serbian Progressive Party leader Tomislav) Nikolic tomorrow,” the LDP leader concluded.
