Serbia and Russia’s FMs Vuk Jeremic and Sergei Lavrov agreed Friday that UN SC Resolution 1244 remained the only legal basis for solutions to the Kosovo issue. The two ministers agree that UN SC Resolution 1244 is the only basis for seeking solutions within the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue or any other forum. Resolution 1244 is "only basis for solution" After a meeting with Lavrov on the sidelines of an Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) ministerial meeting, Jeremic said Russia's position on Kosovo was unchanged. "When it comes to Kosovo, Russia's position is unchanged and is an impermeable wall before all attempts to establish the so-called statehood of Kosovo," the Serbian foreign minister stressed. “In this context, we agreed that Resolution 1244 remains the only legal basis for seeking solutions within the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue or any other forum,” he added. Jeremic pointed out the relations between Serbia and Russia were stable, solid and on the rise, adding he and Lavrov had discussed a plan for joint activities and cooperation in 2012, particularly in the domain of business and culture. "Early next year, we will sign a protocol on cooperation and Russian assistance in the fresco painting of St. Sava's Temple, which will be done by Russian artists," he said after the meeting. Later in the day, the Serbian FM will meet with Armenia and Ukraine’s foreign ministers and International Fund for the Unity of the Orthodox Peoples Chairman Valery Alekseyev, with whom he will discuss the painting of St. Sava's Temple in Belgrade.
