Serb Radical Party (SRS) whip Dragan Todorovic said on Saturday it would be a disaster and the end of Serbia if it were to give up on UN SC Resolution 1244. "If Serbia made that decision and agreed to any change or elimination of Resolution 1244, it would literally spell disaster for the country," Todorovic told Tanjug. Opposition parties: We must not give up on Resolution 1244 “The EU and U.S. would continue to take Serbia apart as a result of that decision,” he noted. "I cannot tell if there has been a similar example in history, where the Serbs agreed to let someone divide them like that," he pointed out. Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) whip Milos Aligrudic says that Serbia should insist on UN SC Resolution 1244 when it comes to solving of the Kosovo issue and that the issue of the southern Serbian province can only be solved under the UN Security Council’s auspices. He believes that the Belgrade-Pristina talks should be suspended because they, as he said, only are only helping impose the Ahtisaari plan. “The ruling coalition should renounce the policy that the EU has no alternative because it only serves as a blackmail, which does not bring Serbia any state or economic benefit,” Aligrudic pointed out. He also believes that all the agreements that have been reached so far should be annulled since they are detrimental to Serbia’s interests. New Serbia (NS) deputy leader Dubravka Filipovski has said that Serbia should not renounce Resolution 1244 at any cost because the document guarantees Serbia’s territorial integrity.
