President Boris Tadic called on competent bodies to put an urgent end to conflicts between KFOR and local citizens in the northern Kosovo village of Jagnjenica. Tadic called on all members of KFOR, EULEX and political representatives of Kosovo Serbs to ensure freedom of movement and prompt resolution of the situation through dialogue and without use of violence, adding that lives of Serbian citizens and members of international institutions need to be preserved in every possible way. KFOR and EULEX are bound by international acts to contribute to resolving the situation by their actions, and political leaders of Serbs need to prevent extremists from jeopardizing personal safety of their compatriots and international representatives in Kosovo, Tadic said and noted that only peace, dialogue and resolution of problems are the exit from the current and any other crisis situation. "The prime minister (Mirko Cvetkovic) and the president are in constant communication with representatives of international missions, and they are attempting to resolve this situation by peaceful means," Bogdnanovic said, according to Tanjug. The minister also put the number of the citizens injured in today's clashes with KFOR at nearly 100. Bogdanovic accused KFOR "and the international community" of being responsible for the current situation in the north of the province, and of demonstrating a clear intention to remove the barricades by force, thus preventing the citizens from expressing their legitimate stance in a peaceful manner. The minister said that the situation in the village of Jagnjenica was tense and uncertain, and that there were indications that it would deteriorate during the night.
