Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Cedomir Jovanovic says main priorities of a new state policy in the coming years should be building of a modern country. He added that this also included credible institutions, the rule of law, and Serbia's membership in the EU and NATO, as well as that the country had to settle all outstanding disputes. U-Turn policy for modern Serbia - LDP leader “Serbia must become a country which is at peace with itself and others, and a member state of the EU and NATO. It should not be cocooned in the deepest historical hole in which it is now, in conflict with all and itself,” Jovanovic told Tanjug. Commenting on topics of the campaign for the coming parliamentary elections, he said that Kosovo would be an important topic once again. “The relation towards Kosovo is a watershed for the orientation of the entire society,” Jovanovic believes, stressing that nevertheless, the issue will be marginalized in the election campaign since parties do not have a solution for it. “The major problems of our society are the most noticeable when it comes to Kosovo, the LDP leader pointed out. He said that the U-Turn policy, which the party recently presented promoting a change in the official Kosovo course and preservation of Serbia's EU perspective, was at the moment supported by a large number voters. “The U-Turn campaign is not run only by the LDP, as it is a broad civil movement which is trying to articulate the European potentials of the society,” Jovanovic explained.
