NATO troops in Kosovo, KFOR, will not use their right to freedom of movement in the province "until other international organizations have the same right". This was heard from the force's commander Erhard Drews, who spoke in an enclave south of the Ibar River on Friday. KFOR doesn't want to move freely without EULEX Drews said that the promise given by representatives of Serbs in north Kosovo on the full freedom of movement for KFOR was "a good sign". "However, we will not exercise the right because it does not apply to EULEX, for which we cannot check whether the full freedom of movement exists," he noted. He reiterated that his demand remains the same, adding that unconditional and permanent freedom of movement should be provided for all international missions, including KFOR, EULEX and all others organizations and citizens. "Until this happens, KFOR will not use the given freedom of movement. There will not be any division between KFOR and our international partners in Kosovo," Drews said. When asked if the freedom of movement should be given to the Kosovo police as well, he said he believes that the police in northern Kosovo should do their job. "On the other side, I trust that the Kosovo government will act prudently and in keeping with the situation," the German general said. In his response to Tanjug's question whether he expects that a solution will be reached through an agreement or KFOR will use force to establish the full freedom of movement for all international missions, Drews said that in the past days "several military operations were carried out without major incidents, which led towards positive developments". "I believe the positive developments will continue and that we will find a peaceful resolution," he concluded. Erhard Drews (Tanjug)
