"Compromise found for rehabilitation law"

Serbian Finance Ministry State Secretary Slobodan Homen stated Friday that a compromise solution has been found in respect to the Rehabilitation Law. He explained that according to the compromise, all those who had committed war crimes, regardless of their role in World War II, would not be able to recover their assets. "Compromise found for rehabilitation law" Homen added that such persons would not have the right to recover property, both the confiscated one, which is in the domain of the Rehabilitation Law, and also the nationalized one, which is related to the Restitution Law. The state secretary told Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) that such a solution had been accepted by all political parties, including the national minority parties and that it was fair and sustainable. The Serbian government is expected to hold a telephone session later on Friday to discuss the amendments to the Rehabilitation Law, the adoption of which is expected early in November. Homen expressed belief that the draft law would have an absolute consensus in the parliament and the ruling coalition but that he also saw no reason for the opposition parties not to support it.
