Veteran ruling DS party official and MP Dragoljub Micunovic says a solution for Kosovo can be found "only in an international conference". Micunovic, who heads the Serbian parliamentary delegation to the Council of Europe, also spoke in favor of "considering a revision of the Ahtisaari plan". Solution for Kosovo "in international conference" The plan for Kosovo's "supervised independence" was drawn up by a former UN envoy, but was never adopted by the UN Security Council. "A solution to the Kosovo problem can be found only in an international conference, if stable peace is desired, because any imposed solution will always be a source for future crises," Micunovic told Belgrade-based daily Politika, "explaining the idea that he presented during the last session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe". "Many European MPs supported the idea," continued he, noting at the same time that "proposals to hold such a conference go via the government and diplomatic means". Micunovic said "Belgrade, Pristina and Brussels" would take part in the conference, "under sponsorship of the UN Security Council, which gave EULEX a mandate for certain reforms and building of institutions in Kosovo". "After all, that's the only solutions, since what the (ethnic) Albanians side is seeking now - a recognition of a fait accompli, according to which there is nothing to talk about - is unacceptable," Micunovic said, according to the newspaper. His initiative, the MP continued, means that "we must start from the realistic situation in Kosovo, and it is perfectly clear that Serbia has no pretension of administering Kosovo." "The fact is that two million people chose their representatives and declared their state," Micunovic was further quoted as saying. "But it was with opposition of a smaller number of inhabitants in that state and the state from which it was separating. This must be taken into account of a lasting and satisfactory solution is desired." He then noted that "there was also the imposed Ahtisaari plan, which we did not accept, but let's see if there is a possibility of revising it, of solving the issue of northern Kosovo in a new way, autonomy of Serb enclaves and a series of other issues on the nature of sovereignty and rights to special ties of minority with the home country." "Considering that Kosovo is still under the jurisdiction of the UN SC Resolution 1244, that means it is an internationalized issue, and that is why there is insistence on talks between Pristina nad Belgrade under the EULEX umbrella whose mandate is determined by the Security Council," - Micunovic said, according to Politika.
