Kosovo Albanian Interior Minister Bajram Rexhepi says "Kosovo cooperating with KFOR and EULEX to prepare a plan for removal of barricades in the north". He told Pristina-based Albanian language daily Epoka e Re that the barricades could be removed immediately but that it was necessary to assess what would happen after their removal. “Kosovo preparing plan to remove barricades” “It should be assessed what kind of level of force should be used and whether there could be violence. I believe that we will reach a consent in the following days and that we will also take other steps,” Rexhepi was quoted as saying. Kosovo police and customs officers are taken to the Jarinje and Brnjak checkpoints by EULEX and KFOR helicopters, but according to the Kosovo interior minister this will soon change and they will use roads to get to the administrative crossings. Rexhepi rejected an idea to temporarily put northern Kosovo under the international community’s authority as “unacceptable”. “The idea is unacceptable, we can delegate some monitoring operations, but the idea of an international administration is unacceptable. The Ahtisaari plan is the basis that should be achieved,” he pointed out. The idea to have a temporary international administration in northern Kosovo was first launched by the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo deputy leader Blerim Sala. However, the idea was supported by neither Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga nor Prime Minister Hashim Thaci. Bajram Rexhepi and Hashim Thaci
