The Police Union of Serbia will go on strike on Monday, October 10, but will maintain a minimum level of service. “Border crossings will from that day work with a reduced capacity, ID cards, passports ant other documents will only be issued in emergency cases, police will only go out to emergency interventions and inspectors will go out in the field only for crimes persecuted ex officio,” it is said in Police Union of Serbia’s announcement. Police Union of Serbia to go on strike on Monday The Police Union of Serbia repeated that they had requested improvement “of catastrophic financial and social status of all MUP (Serbian Interior Ministry) employees” in September. “The requests are of vital importance for further normal work and life of police officers and their families and they have not kept anything aside from the obligations that the government and MUP have in accordance with the special collective agreement for police officers, the Labor Law and Law on Police,” the Union said in the release. The Police Union of Serbia requested a new systematization, implementation of the collective agreement for police officers, changes to the Law on Police, new uniforms and equipment. “The listed requests are of utmost importance for the safety of the MUP employees and all citizens and Serbia’s territory. We believe that it is necessary to inform all the MUP employees and citizens that there are so-called police unions that have been sabotaging the Police Union of Serbia’s actions aimed at improving police’s standard of living, so it’s clear who is behind them,” the Union stressed.
