Islamic Community in Serbia Chief Mufti Muamer Zukorlic and Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leader Tomislav Nikolic agree dialogue is only way to solve issues. They also stressed that solutions needed to be in the interest of all citizens i.e. members of all nations and communities, and not to the detriment of the country. SNS, chief mufti “turn new page” They pointed out that with this meeting they “turned a new page” in the relations in Sandzak. Zukorlic and Nikolic claim that they did not discuss the politics or any kind of coalition, but rather all open issues and problems bothering the Bosniaks in Serbia. They underlined that the talks were only the beginning and that they would be continued in the future. Commenting on the last elections, the mufti said that the current authorities had a great support of Bosniaks, but added, however, that they did not fulfill the expectations, which the Bosniaks took as an insult. He also pointed out that Bosniaks saw a good interlocutor in Nikolic, pointing out that the two of them had agreed on the five open issues - accreditation of International University, religious education, waqf property, unique Islamic community and obstruction of work of the Bosniak National Council. The SNS leader stressed that he had come to see the mufti with desire that all the people in Serbia live in peace, harmony and understanding, and, as he put it, in order to start talks which would never be finished. “The only solution is to come to an agreement, and we expect that, after the next elections, the responsibility for Serbia will be in our hands. We want to see the day when both of us will take care of the people we represent,” Nikolic concluded. Novi Pazar (FoNet, file)
