A new round of Belgrade-Pristina talks will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday in Brussels, Beta news agency has learned from diplomatic sources in the EU. Telecommunications, energy and participation of Kosovo in regional meetings and initiatives will be discussed. EU officials: Belgrade-Pristina talks to continue Tuesday The EU officials could not say whether the issue of Kosovo customs officers and policemen at checkpoints in northern Kosovo could be added on the agenda. They added, however, that Belgrade and Pristina team heads could in separate meetings with EU facilitator Robert Cooper after the talks discuss the deployment of Kosovo customs officer to the Jarinje and Brnjak administrative checkpoints. The sources told Beta that this could be a way to interpret Belgrade team chief Borislav Stefanovic’s statement that Serbia was “on the right track“ to ensure talks about the Jarinje and Brnjak crossings “in accordance with the (Serbian) request and that the negotiations will be held not with Pristina but with European Union and U.S. representatives”. The Brussels officials stressed that Serbian President Boris Tadic and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton had in New York discussed Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic’s request to reach a new agreement on customs checkpoints and implementation of customs stamp and free trade. According to the Serbian prime minister, the deal was not to change the existing situation in the field until the dialogue is underway and because it is a part of the UN-Serbia six point plan. Stefanovic and Cooper have, according to the EU officials, discussed the issue over the phone. The Belgrade team head also stressed that the dialogue was the only way to solve the crisis at the checkpoints in northern Kosovo. He also added that the Ahtisaari plan was unacceptable for Serbia but did not rule out a possibility to accept the plan as a foundation for the talks, but stressed that the document would have to undergo serious changes.
