Serbs in northern Kosovo spent the night on watch at the barricades, and the situation was peaceful in the southern Serbian province. EULEX should announce their decision on Monday on taking over the case of 13 arrested drivers of the Eurokop company from Raska, after Serbian Ministry for Kosovo State Secretary Oliver Ivanovic’s initiative lauched in the talks with EULEX representatives on Sunday. EULEX to decide on arrested truck drivers case “If EULEX gives the green light, the only Serb lawyer out of 13 lawyers will be ready to launch the necessary initiative for taking over the case,” Ivanovic told Tanjug, adding that the arrest of the drivers was an attempt to get even with the Serbs who blocked the Jarinje and Brnjak checkpoints in northern Kosovo. The barricades in northern Kosovo have been set on all major roads in the municipalities of Zvecan, Kosovska Mitrovica and Leposavic, as well as the Jarinje and Brnjak crossings, as a response to the deployment of non-operational Kosovo customs officers to Jarinje and Brnjak. In view of the situation, KFOR Commander Erhard Drews told Tanjug in his first statement since assuming office that numerous protests and roadblocks in northern Kosovo prevented freedom of movement of not only KFOR and other international missions and organizations, but also citizens. Drews said that the situation in northern Kosovo was stable and expressed hope that a solution would be reached for the sake of the citizens. One of the barricades in northern Kosovo (Tanjug, file)
