The Serbian parliament is meeting in Belgrade on Tuesday for an extraordinary session to discuss the public property bill. Adopting the draft is one of the preconditions for Serbia to be granted EU candidate status. Serbian MPs to discuss public property bill The bill envisages three levels of property ownership - republic, provincial and municipal, and proscribes that the country's natural resources and goods of public interest cannot be privatized, including raw minerals, springs of mineral and thermal water, water resources and others. According to the bill, the goods of public interest comprise agricultural land, forests and forest land, military land and facilities, protected cultural goods, and public goods such as roads, rails, bridges, tunnels, public parks, border crossings, administrative crossings etc. At the new extraordinary session, 13th this year, MPs will also debate draft amendments to the Law on the Restitution of Property to Churches and Religious Communities.
