The opposition DSS party has asked for "Kosovo customs to leave administrative crossings in northern Kosovo", and for UNMIK to be deployed there instead. "In order to find a solution for the current situation, it is necessary for the illegal customs of Kosovo Albanians to withdraw, and to leave all activities at administrative crossings once again to UNMIK," said party spokesman Petar Petkovic. Speaking during a news conference in Belgrade on Monday, Petkovic said that his party gave strong support to the Serb people in Kosovo who have been defending the state of Serbia for four days in a peaceful and dignified manner - "considering that the non-violent resistance of the Serb people is a clear indicator that administrative crossings cannot be sustained as border crossings". He also welcomed announcements from the Constitutional Court of Serbia that it would, at the DSS request, examine whether the Statute of Vojvodina was constitutional. Petkovic said that this court was the only institution with authority to rule on the issue, and that "this will be an opportunity for the public in Serbia to learn about the Constitutional Court's decision, which will be of decisive importance for Serbia and her northern province of Vojvodina".
