Serbian Ministry for Kosovo State Secretary Oliver Ivanovic said Friday EULEX's open involvement in Pristina's operations would undermine its position. He added that it would also cut off their communication with the Serbs. State secretary says EULEX is undermining its position The state secretary said the Serbian government and President Boris Tadic were taking sensible moves by calling to peaceful protests and there is a chance to influence decision-making centers through diplomatic means and point to the harmfulness of this kind of policy and Serbia's firm stance which will not change under pressure. Ivanovic told Radio and Television of Serbia that the UN Security Council session held late Thursday was good and had an expected outcome, adding that he doubts any diplomat could support the operation which would obviously cause violence and that the Serbs would block it with peaceful protests. He believes the entire international community in Kosovo has been compromised by siding with Pristina, as international officials should stay status neutral regardless of which country they represent. “The UN, KFOR, NATO, EULEX and the EU have not recognized Kosovo's independence and their mission could act accordingly on the ground,” Ivanovic pointed out. Asked if he expects the situation to calm down, he said the day was long and there could be more room for optimism in the afternoon, but that until then the Serbs should stay on the barricades and not resort to violence which would give an excuse the violence planned by the other side.
