Enver Hoxhaj says that takeover of administrative crossings is not a unilateral move and that majority of UN Security Council members agree with him. “I cannot speak for other countries, but let me inform you that majority of Security Council members clearly stated that they did not think that things that are going to happen tomorrow were unilateral actions, but that they are in accordance with Resolution 1244, EULEX mandate and the international law,” Hoxhaj said. "Checkpoint takeover not unilateral move" Commenting on Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic’s statement that the UN Security Council was against unilateral actions and Deputy UN Peacekeeping Chief Edmond Mulet's warning that unilateral actions could jeopardize stability, Hoxhaj, appointed as foreign minister by the Kosovo Albanian government in Pristina, said: “I cannot speak for others, but I think that Mulet’s job was to inform about the situation in the field and the situation shows that what will happen tomorrow is in accordance with Resolution 1244,” the Kosovo foreign minister stressed. Pointing out that the agreement on customs stamps was reached on September 2 in Brussels, he said that “the Kosovo government will implement the agreement in close cooperation and coordination with EULEX and KFOR”. “Serbia has, however, decided to go against the international community, the Security Council as an institution, the EU and NATO and I wonder whether we are living in 1991 or 2011, when both countries should work on European integrations,” Hoxhaj pointed out. He added that nothing would happen on Friday if Serbia wanted peace, security and stability. “Kosovo policemen and customs officers will tomorrow be at the two crossings. That’s Kosovo’s internationally recognized border, under central government’s jurisdiction and it will remain so,” the Kosovo minister said. Enver Hoxhaj (Deutsche Welle, file)
