U.S. Ambassador in Pristina Christopher Dell has stated that it was "Kosovo's legitimate right to return members of its customs and police to the north". Dell said after his meeting on Monday with an official of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo party that there was "an agreement between the government of Kosovo, KFOR and EULEX on the return of members of police and customs" to the checkpoints of Jarinje and Brnjak. U.S. envoy says Pristina's plans "legitimate" "The government of Kosovo has all legitimate rights and powers to implement the agreement made on September 2. Now we expect that to happen and we support them in that," he was quoted as saying. And while Serbian officials are rejecting agreements that were made ignoring Belgrade, Albanian language media in Kosovo report today that Kosovo Albanian PM Hashim Thaci, "in cooperation with Dell, the KFOR commander, the EULEX chief, and (EU foreign policy chief) Catherine Ashton's representative in Kosovo" last week agreed on "an operational plan". This was also confirmed in a statement of Thaci's deputy Hajredin Kuci, who spoke for daily Koha Ditore. According to this, the parties agreed that "the authorities of Kosovo will have command over police and customs, the operative part will belong to EULEX, while KFOR will control alternative roads on the border with Serbia".
