Unilateral moves are unacceptable - minister

Serbian Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic stated Saturday that Pristina’s unilateral moves were unacceptable. He added that the Serbian government and Serbs from northern Kosovo wanted to have partnership relations with EULEX and KFOR. Unilateral moves are unacceptable - minister Bogdanovic conferred in Leposavic with the presidents of municipalities of northern Kosovo and the Kosovska Mitrovica District head on the current situation in the north of the province and danger that unilateral moves of Kosovo institutions could cause. "We agreed that we cannot accept Pristina’s unilateral moves. We want to have partnership relations with both EULEX and KFOR, but we cannot accept the announcements of Kosovo officials that, as of September 16, they will deploy Kosovo border police in northern Kosovo and start charging customs duties," Bogdanovic stressed. According to him, Serbs from northern Kosovo are determined to resist those Pristina’s intentions in a peaceful way. "We want you (EULEX and KFOR) to be our partners, to jointly resolve issues, but we are not ready to accept the imposition of Kosovo's independence through unilateral moves," Bogdanovic underlined. “Should that happen, the partnership relation can be brought into question,” the minister added. “The people want these two missions to protect the interests of both Serbs and ethnic Albanians, and not to take care of the interests of ethnic Albanians and impose solutions to Serbs,” he pointed out. Bogdanovic believes that the interests of Serbs from northern Kosovo can be defended in a peaceful way. He said that the people in northern Kosovo should have a say in this matter, adding that the issue should not be discussed in Pristina without consulting the citizens from northern Kosovo.
