Trebinje war-time mayor Božidar Vučurević has escaped from Serbia to Trebinje because he wants to be tried in Bosnia, his lawyer Svetozar Vujačić has said.

Trebinje war-time mayor Bozidar Vucurevic has escaped from Serbia to Trebinje because he wants to be tried in Bosnia, his lawyer Svetozar Vujacic has said. He told Beta news agency that Vucurevic had called him on Saturday and said that he could not take anymore everything that had been happening to him in Serbia since he was arrested on April 4 and that he was in Trebinje with his family. Vujacic said his client had lived in very poor conditions in Belgrade and that he could not afford to pay for a place to stay anymore or the costs of his medical treatment. He was admitted to Zemun hospital on August 24 with heart problems and he was discharged on September 5. Vucurevic was arrested on April 4 in Serbia on a Croatian warrant. Croatia is accusing him of crimes in Dubrovnik and has requested his extradition.
