Serbia, China sign cooperation protocol

Serbian Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac and Chinese Central Military Commission Deputy President Xu Caihou signed a cooperation protocol on Friday. They also signed an agreement on donation of medical equipment to military medical institutions worth USD 2mn. The Serbian minister stressed that the meeting was marked not just by the signing of the two agreements, but that a high-ranking and large Chinese delegation had visited the Defense Ministry. "It is clear today that we foster a very high level of cooperation between the two ministries, which makes us very proud. Serbia and China are important partners concerning foreign policy and we are grateful for their strong stand on Kosovo," Sutanovac noted. According to him, the two countries military cooperation improves constantly, particularly over the last seven years, which saw 24 experts from the Serbian military undergo training in China. "I am also proud of the fact that two Chinese officers are close to completing their training at our Military Academy. The desire to make the best out of our cooperation in military medicine was made official today, and I believe the cooperation regarding military education will also be continued," the Serbian defense minister remarked. “The talks involved the possibilities of military and technical cooperation and exchange of officers for exercises,” he stated, adding he had invited Caihou and his associates to attend the 100th anniversary of aviation in Serbia next year. Xu said the motives for his visit were, among other things, to get mutually acquainted and strengthen and improve the friendship between the two countries so they could continue developing their strategic partnership. Xu underlined the need to further improve the cooperation and dialogue related to military medical science, technology and personnel. The Serbian minister stressed that the meeting was marked not just by the signing of the two agreements, but that a high-ranking and large Chinese delegation had visited the Defense Ministry.
