Belgrade team head Borislav Stefanovic has said Pristina authorities’ unilateral attempt to take over the administrative crossings is unacceptable to Belgrade. He added that such a move would jeopardize the stability of Kosovo and the entire region. Attempts to take over checkpoints “unacceptable to Belgrade” "This is precisely what we had been announcing. We understand their intention, Pristina has publicly declared their attempt to unilaterally take over the administrative crossings, and that it unacceptable for us," Stefanovic told Tanjug Tuesday, pointing out that this was not one of the issues discussed in Brussels. Commenting on Pristina's team chief Edita Tahiri’s statement that, after September 15, when the agreement with KFOR expires, the crossings at the administrative line with Kosovo will be controlled by the Kosovo government, he said that, "in case that happens, it will not only be a unilateral move, but also a move which seriously undermines the stability of Kosovo-Metohija and the region." The Belgrade team chief stressed there was a possibility that this could happen, as the Pristina authorities had been announcing it for some time, and added that Belgrade believed that the agreement should remain in force until the two sides see eye to eye. Stefanovic pointed out that it was important to preserve peace and unity, as well as full coordination between the state and its citizens, "not to respond to provocations, and peacefully protect legitimate national interests."
