Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg has said that after accepting Croatia, the European Union (EU) should first admit other Western Balkan countries. “Following Croatia's accession, the EU should first admit Western Balkan countries, as otherwise it nurtures a time bomb in its immediate neighborhood,” Schwarzenberg told Vienna-based daily Die Presse. This is the main difference between the Czech Republic and Poland, which currently holds the EU presidency. “Nevertheless, the talks with Ukraine are going well, and Moldova is taking huge reform efforts.
