Top European Union (EU) officials on Wednesday reacted to the news out of Serbia that the last Hague fugitive had been arrested. President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton welcomed Wednesday the arrest of Goran Hadzic, saying it was "another important step" in the realization of Serbia's EU perspective. Van Rompuy and Ashton expressed expectation Hadzic would be extradited to the Hague Tribunal without any delay and pointed out cooperation with the court continued to be of essential importance to Serbia's EU membership.
