European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia Jelko Kacin says he "did not give his support" to Mufti Muamer Zukorlic. Kacin met with Zukorlic - who heads of one of Serbia's rival Islamic communities - in Sarajevo last week. EP official denies he "gave support to mufti" Kacin told Belgrade-based Blic newspaper that their conversation was long, but that it took the form of a "briefing", and that "all sides must be heard in order to draw the right conclusion". "Zukoric has every right to brief me and speak about the situation in Sandzak. It is my duty to hear him out. In order to draw my conclusions, I need to hear both sides, as well as the third side, if it exists," said the Slovenian EP official. On Monday, Zukorlic's organization issued a statement saying that Kacin and Zukolic had met in Sarajevo to agree that the southwestern Sandzak region of Serbia "will be more stable once five injustices against Bosniaks have been removed". The list included "endangerment of waqf property" in the area. But Kacin told the newspaper he was "not sure this was even discussed" as he met with Zukorlic in Sarajevo. The rapporteur concluded by saying that the meeting focused mostly on Serbia and her road toward the EU. Jelko Kacin (Tanjug, file)
